Duke of Edinburgh may not have been everybody’s cup of tea, but you can’t deny his devotion to his country, his active service, his working ethic and above all his dedication and support to his Sovereign and beloved wife of 73 years.
I was fortunate enough to meet Prince Philip and found him to be very straightforward and very friendly, A genuinely nice bloke. He was a Grenadier through and through and as Operation Forth Bridge was carried out my thoughts were, and are with my Sovereign and her Royal Family. As we all know, losing a figurehead is always upsetting, but losing a family member is devastating.
The Queens Company, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards were outstanding and I was fortunate enough to have served with this company. It’s a company like NO OTHER in The British Military and the most senior throughout. In the words of Her Majesty The Queen – ‘My beloved Grenadiers’.
